The seemingly magical process of turning raw clay into a ceramic piece, has always awed me. It is especially true of the woodfire process -where the natural elements of clay, wood and fire are harnessed and manipulated to create objects of beauty. I often leave parts bare of glaze so that the wood ash and path of the flames can create unique markings and glaze.  My pottery is almost always functional.
