Robert Strasser has been making ceramics throughout his adult life. His work mixes methods and influences that include English slipware, Japanese mingei (handcraft), and Middle Eastern hand drums. Explorations of the decorative effects of pattern and texture on three dimensional surfaces, as well as capturing details of nature’s diversity, are recurrent themes in his studio work. In 2002, he completed a 4 month studio residency in Shigaraki, Japan.
